Turki Alalshikh Plans “Revenge” With Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren as They Prepare to Face Record Breaking Crowd
Saudi Season title fight set to break Diriyah Arena attendance record
Saudi sports minister His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has promised that the upcoming Diriyah Arena triple-header will be "a night to remember", as he looks to avenge his defeat to Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren at last year’s event.
HE Alalshikh challenged Hearn and Warren to a friendly boxing match at the end of their press conference to announce the Joshua Buatsi vs. Jean Pascal light heavyweight world title fight, which takes place on Saturday 14th May.
Speaking at the Diriyah Arena, HE Alalshikh, the minister of sports for Saudi Arabia, said: “I want revenge! I want to box both of you. One after the other. I take boxing very seriously. I train every day. You will both regret this!”.
Hearn and Warren accept Alalshikh's boxing challenge
Hearn and Warren accepted HE Alalshikh's challenge, and the trio will now face off in an exhibition bout after the main event on Saturday night.
The Diriyah Arena is set to host its biggest ever crowd for the event, with over 20,000 fans expected to attend.
The triple-header also features the rematch between Badou Jack and Richard Rivera, and the debut of Saudi fighter Ziyad Almaayouf.
Alalshikh excited to be fighting in front of home crowd
HE Alalshikh said: “I am so excited to be fighting in front of my home crowd.
“I have been training hard for this, and I am confident that I can beat both Eddie and Frank.
"This is going to be a historic night for Saudi boxing, and I am honored to be a part of it.”
Hearn and Warren relishing the challenge
Hearn said: “This is going to be a lot of fun.
"I’ve never boxed in front of a crowd like this before, so it’s going to be a great experience.
"I’m confident that Frank and I can beat HE Alalshikh, but he’s a tough opponent, so we’re going to have to be at our best.”
Warren added: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I’m not going to let it pass me by.
"I’m going to give it my all, and I’m confident that we can win.”
