Six athletes to keep an eye on as the Paralympic Games get underway

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games are set to begin on August 28, and para powerlifting is one of the first sports on the schedule. The competition will take place over three days, from August 29-31, and will feature some of the world's best athletes.

  • Rumyana Karyova (Bulgaria) is the current world record holder in the women's 61kg category. She is a two-time Paralympic champion and will be looking to add to her medal collection in Paris.
  • Amalia Perez (Mexico) is the reigning Paralympic champion in the women's 67kg category. She is a three-time world champion and will be one of the favorites to win gold in Paris.
